Plywood Kitchen Floor

I know i know the old vct floor was black and i had all of these grand ideas about painting crazy.
Are plywood floors a good choice for our kitchen. You can add a simple coat of polyurethane which will leave the floors the lighter color of the plywood but will still give the floors needed protection from liquids falling on them. The top layer is intentionally made pretty so that it can be displayed. We have ceramic now and trying to keep the grout clean is such a pita plus i m sick of the look of tile.
A couple of weeks ago i posted part one of my plywood plank kitchen floor installation and since then i ve been trying to get the second part together. Once your floors are sanded and cleaned it will be time to add some stain. Plants decorative and kitchen accessories sit on the shelf. As you can see i decided to just go with black.

Once the vct and the ant riddled plywood were removed we discovered the original pine plank subfloor was not salvageable. It s absolutely fine with feet shoes but a pair of heels for example wouldn t be too great on it. A lot of people have asked if any of the boards had flipped up or come loose seeing as most of them were only glued down. We ve been looking into various floorings and have ruled out ceramic and quarry tile.
Many of the projects we have seen use pine plywood sheets with prices between 15 and 25 per sheet and with each sheet covering 32 square feet you quickly see that it s very easy to end up with a new floor self installed for around 1 per square foot.
